That's a random quote from one of my favorite muppets Sam the Eagle. I thought you might like a post from one of my sketchbook pages of nerdy animals.
I've officially decided that everyone is nerdy in some way. I would definitely consider myself an art nerd. I love the history of furniture and architecture and don't get me started on the Golden Age of Illustration. (Really I'm nerdy in a lot of conventional ways too i.e. Harry Potter, LOTR, old school Science Fiction like 1984 and Fahrenheit 451... it's pretty ridiculous.) My husband is a word nerd. He's a linguist and he's pretty fascinated with pronunciation and word structure... and my dog Radar likes to eat paper. Okay so that's not nerdy per se, but he's pretty obsessive about it. Edward and I were eating dinner within Radar's reach and he decided to go for the paper napkins and not the delicious meats nearby.
Anyway what kind of nerd are you?

OH you got me with all of these fantastic creatures. I am lover of the muppets as well so I know of whom you speak! he he he. The eagle was such a fun character. I loved his face. I love all of these and I can't wait to see what you plan to do next with this lovely nerdy bunch! The turtle had stolen my heart and has left the building!!! Oh but he is doll! I think I may have to purchase an illustration of him from you. Seriously! He is fabulous and I want him. Thanks for checking in with me. We finally had Hali ( My friend that passed) her services today. It was beautiful, but very hard to watch her mom an 7 year son. I still can't believe it. I have my good days and bad. It's so sweet of you to check in with me. I really appreciate it from the bottom of my heart! Thanks with many hugs and kisses

Oh, I clip coupons, eat all of my veggies, and wear Chapstick to bed. :) Nerdy.
BTW, thanks for the really cute note in the mail. You know I LOVE your pink & purple tentacles! : )
Oh another muppet fan!!! Sam the Eagle and Gonzo are my favourites. Let's see what kind of a nerd am I? I draw strange cartoons, watch bad reruns of old star trek episodes, I love watching Wil. E Coyote get flattened by an anvil, I have a collection of fantasy art books and Superman comics..so I must be one of those Comic nerds maybe and perhaps yes I may just be a wierdo afterall.
Love the nerdy animals seeing them has just made my week. Oh and I did buy lots of crap I didn't need for Christmas.
Take care Meredith you always make my day with your posts.
Liz
I'm a cartoon nerd, a candy nerd and a kid's music nerd. I'm a bigger fan of The Wiggles than my boys are!
Love the drawings!
Kate- How wonderfully nerdy. I love it! And really thanks for your Halloween tags. Like I said... I'm too greedy to give them away!
Liz- Hehe... You crack me up. I'm delighted that you are into Superman comics. I use to collect hard core from about 94 to 97 so I have the death of Superman and the rise of the Supermen. (My fav was John Henry).
How cool are we? (...er I mean nerdy ;)
Thanks Rena! I have to say that my niece is sometimes ashamed of the kids movies that I love, because she is 13 and oh so adult ;)
Hey Meredith,
I LOVE the Death of Superman and the Rise of Superman. Brilliant stories combined with stunning artwork. And I have the original graphic Novels of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles as well not to mention a whole pile of other comics which I hog all to my miserable little self and read in the middle of the night when my kids are asleep. Yes we are cool - I mean Nerdy. Think I'll go now...

Hi Meridth,
Thanks for visiting my blog and even following. I guess I'm a nerd because I refuse to be doing what everyone else is doing. I'm not a princess, pink is not my favorite color, I'm not much for for shopping, fru-fru and bling. I won't let my husband call me "Honey" because that's everyone else's wife's name. I just don't want to be everyone else. Being me is just fine.
Vickie
I think being you is perfect! Btw I'm not really a fan of pink either. (Maybe it's my aversion to pink but it does somehow creep into my paintings now and again... but definitely not onto my clothes).
Here Here Vickie.
What a wonderful assortment of characters! The giraffe is just perfect. For what it's worth, my dog eats toilet paper.
Hehe. Dogs are so funny. (I think your dog and my dog are friends Eric).
These guys are priceless and they all have such snazzy eyewear!
You can often find me in the graphic novel section of any bookstore, hunkered over X-men or Hellblazer. I'm very in touch with my inner 14 year old boy... oh and I like to eat paper too.
Thanks Linda. That really means a lot coming from an expert in hilourous animals... and yea for more graphic novel nerds. Have you read The Three Shadows? It is beautiful and a fantastic graphic novel (created by a former Disney designer). Anyway...
Excellent.
Great nerdy bunch! Hah! Fun.
What kind of a nerd am I? Same as Kate, except for the clipping coupons part. ;-D
the giraffe looks like a friend of mine :) hehe...
Really cool image. Love your style.
Nice works, really god!
congratulations and regards.
cute sketchbook entry! i like your lines!
Very cute characters! From one nerd to another!!
Great stuff Meridth!
Wonderful characters!!
I tried to think of what kind of nerd I am... nothing is coming to me... maybe I am too old to be a nerd. You would probably notice the nerdy things about me sooner than I would coz it sounds like you have nerd radar. Not to be confused with Radar:)
great nerd illo - and i love your blog. didn't realise the orphan works bill got up... that IS bad. Like crossing the streams if you're a ghostbuster. really bad.
Hey... thanks all for helping me feel warm and squishy! You've really made my day!
Bobby- So is your friend mainly on a diet of leaves or grass?
Roberta... Hooray for you being a nerd! The more the merrier :)
and Shannon... it's okay that you're not a nerd. You can be my cool friend :)
Lil' Kim- Your Ghostbuster quote made me swallow my tonsils. I didn't realize the awful Orphan Works Bill could be funny.
Thanks Meridth! I will definitely look into The Three Shadows. Looked it up on Amazon and became very intrigued!
I'm so glad to hear that Linda! That probably is one of my favorite Graphic Novels ever. It's a beautifully illustrated and the story is incredible.
Peas, let's nut go there!!!
I didn't know it was possible to be a candy nerd, but I'm one, too. Nothing like it for a taste great moment in the mouth.
Hehehe hahah hohoho! I'm totally tickled a pinkish fleshy color. That pun was a fantastic prelude to a delicious comment :)
Hey, I've given you an award! Check my blog for details.
Mer,
I don't know what kind of nerd I am... a book nerd maybe? LOL
I don't know... I know you are always saying you love my nerdiness, so clue me in! ROFLOL
Steph
haha, thanks for the comment, but seriously, you are DEFINITELY the coolest person in cool town. hands down. :)
Hey Sweetie, just checking in on you. I'm still cleaning up the drool over mr. Turtle. In my best best Geechee language, "I lub heeee!" Hope that all is well with you my friend. Thanks for your kinds encouragement. I so appreciate it cause I value what you say. You're the best. Later Girly
I'm definitely a comic nerd (would cartoons fit underneath this category too?).
Great illustrations, this is my first visit to your blog!
Yup i got the nerd in me too. I would love to see Sam the Eagle and Beaker have a conversation, or maybe you even sketch them having one !! MUPPETLOVERS UNITE !!! Great blog/
THose are ADORABLE!! I like your style, girl!!
I'm heading to the CWIM conference January 31- will you be there??
Your Highness (KoNYHs) I am beyond pleased that you are a muppet lover. Beaker is definitely one of my other favorites, as is the accordion muppets and the Swedish Chef... and the talking fruit and bread. (Really I could go on and on.
So, Vodka Mom... I definitely have a CWIM book, but I've never heard of a conference. Sounds fun and informative. (Is there a website?)
Once again, you have me laughing.
As far as my own nerdiness, there is almost no end. Of course there's illustration and animation, but there's also Daniel Pinkwater stories and Neil Gayman and last but not least JK Rowling.
Also, almost any movie that my husband and I go see, we end up dissecting it afterward. I'm lucky I have the husband I have cause I was recently reminded that most people hate that.
Amazing! I love the turtle the best! And I am a proud nerd in a myriad of things :) Woot for Harry Potter!
