Step Two, Buckle My Shoe

Totally unfinished mermaid with octopus hat.
Not sure how many out there are interested in the creative process, or shall I say my creative process. I have to say that most of my ideas come from doodles that I make when I'm suppose to be paying attention to something else. Yay for distractions.

Anyway, I'm going to be part of The Sketchbook Project. It's where, "thousands of sketchbooks will be exhibited at galleries and museums as they make their way on tour across the country. After the tour, all sketchbooks will enter into the permanent collection of The Brooklyn Art Library, where they will be barcoded and available for the public to view." I have to fill up a sketchbook by January 2011 and the gallery tour starts the following March.
Super exciting. I can't wait to share the good, the bad, and the ugly that goes on in my sketchbook and gets me to a finished product. For those of you artist/artistan/craftsman buddies out there, give in to peer pressure and be part of the The Sketchbook Project. If you do end up joining please please send me a link so I can blog stalk your sketchies. :)

Good for you Meridth! I'd be scared to put my sketchies in there - pretty messy!
Thanks for your comments on my blog too xx

I have to say that it will be hard to refrain from ripping some pages out.

Hello Meridth, OMG How long has it been. You were having the baby last time I came by. I know you've been busy ever since. You came across my mind and I had to come by and see how you and the baby are doing. Hope that you are doing well. I can see your work is still just as wonderful as ever!!! I have always loved your sketches and this mermaid is so wonderful. I can't wait to see more. I will be coming around again. Hope that you are doing well and enjoying motherhood.
Take care

Hey Honey Bunny, Oh my gosh I thought it would be days before I heard from you. This was the bestest present of the week!! An email from you. he he hehe. God must have the both of us on the same schedule cause I will be moving soon as well. We are packing up right now. I am in the middle of working on three books and time is just going and going! How do I do it???? If I don't git some mediation time each morning it just don't git done!!!! My husband and daughter are my main concern. They have to be. I have so many things that are pulling and tugging at me for attention, but when put first things first they just seem to fall right into place. You are wife and a mom. You and I both know this is a job for superwoman! If we don't take time for ourselves then we are doing everyone and everything a dis-serves. Today was goof off day for me. I needed one so I gave my self permission to do so. It can be so overwhelming when running your own business or freelancing. It's about schedules and making time to do your thing with the business. I feel the need to tell you that you are not a failure. You are not! You have done so much and things have been kind of back to back to back with you. It can really wear a sistah OUT! You are in a great transition so you need to embrace that. Give yourself permission to rest cause you are going to need it. There are other things that are more important and when you give your attention to your family first I declare everything will fall into line. I'll admit you have to find time to quiet yourself. Time just for you. I could go on and on. All is well and you are right on schedule. Remember you can't do it all in one day. Time for you. Time for hubby and baby, then work. In that order he he he he! Higher help is available upon request he he he he! Hugs to you and I will be around. Kisses and Encouraging HUGS
